Health Begins Here

Voyage Healthcare’s Rheumatologists provide high-quality consultations and comprehensive rheumatologic care to our patients.  It is a sub-specialty in internal medicine and pediatrics devoted to diagnosing and treating rheumatic diseases. Our Rheumatologists sees patients at our CrystalMaple Grove and Plymouth locations.

Many rheumatologic conditions – such as fibromyalgia and autoimmune diseases – can be complex and, at times, difficult to diagnose. Our team is committed to providing thoughtful, personalized care that ensures every patient feels heard, understood, and supported throughout their journey.

What does a Rheumatologist do?

The role of our Rheumatologists is to diagnose, treat, and medically manage patients with arthritis and other rheumatic diseases. These health problems affect the joints, muscles, bones, and sometimes other internal organs (e.g., kidneys, lungs, blood vessels, brain). Because these diseases are often complex, they benefit from the care of a Rheumatology expert. Our Rheumatologists works directly with Voyage Healthcare primary care physicians and other healthcare providers to generate a healthcare plan for our rheumatic patients.

A Focus on Women’s Rheumatology Care

Many autoimmune conditions, such as fibromyalgia, and chronic pain disorders disproportionately affect women and are often misunderstood or overlooked

Fibromyalgia disproportionately affects women – accounting for up to 75–90% of cases – and is most commonly diagnosed between ages 30–60, making it one of the most prevalent and often misunderstood chronic pain conditions in women.

At Voyage Healthcare, we take a different approach; prioritizing careful listening, thorough evaluation, and truly personalized care. We look beyond symptoms alone to better understand how these conditions impact your daily life, overall health, and long-term well-being.

Emily Peterson, APRN, CNP, FNP-C is dedicated to supporting women through every stage of their diagnosis and treatment. From seeking answers to managing chronic conditions, she works closely with patients to create care plans that feel realistic, supportive, and empowering; ensuring they feel validated, understood, and confident in their care every step of the way.
